The Psychology of Fall

 Dear Health Honeys🍂🍎,

Hi everybody! I am currently writing this while I am studying with my best friend at Starbucks! ☕We ordered our favorite fall drinks, Iced Pumpkin Cream Chai 🍎and Iced Banana Bread Chai!🍌 Fall is absolutely my favorite season and it's probably yours too if you're reading this, but have you ever asked why? Because of Halloween🧙, watching the leaves change,🍂 and pumpkin patches of course, but what in the brain makes us actually obsessed? Well health honey, I'm going to explain it to you! 🐝

One of the most positive things about fall is that it represents a brand new start! We start school 📒again and we officially enter the holiday season. Events like birthdays🎂 and holidays are known as "temporal landmarks" which are moments that create a structure for how we see and use time. When we enter a new landmark, we allow ourselves to put negative past experiences behind us and look at a new fresh future. In  school we make new friends, go to new places, 🆕and experience new opportunities. We become motivated to do better and that carries onto adulthood. 🧑

Although I do love summer, getting back to school gives everybody a steady routine that makes us comfortable. Summer🌺 is filled with mystery and not knowing what adventures you are going to experience. It is for relaxing vacations ☀and getting away from your real life. All of these things are great, but if you got to do them all year round, they would not feel as special. Once we head back to school it is easier to see all of your friends and you have an actual routine. Since it is the start of the new season, we all get motivated to try new things! We might try to bake pumpkin muffins 🥮 create something new! The wonderful weather we get outside also provides us with mental health benefits. When the temperature gets cooler 🥶and the leaves are falling and pretty, it encourages us to spend more time outside! This has been connected to happiness and improvements in mental health.🧠 Since it's less warm outside we swap out our summer clothes👚 to our fall clothes🧥 which covers more of our body. Swim suit 🩱season ends and it takes the pressure off of looking amazing 24/7. And with Halloween around the corner, everybody is eating candy and sweet treats! 🍭The pressure to diet and be perfect is a lot less.

We also view fall as a comforting and nostalgic time! Dressing up with our friends for Halloween, buying pumpkin flavor everything,🥰 Halloween parties, horror movies, the whole season is filled with fun stuff to do! It comes with cute sweaters and warm drinks, what's not to like! 🫖

Whether you love or hate fall, it definitely has its benefits! 🌠

Now, let's do a quick vitals check on myself!🩺
